I didn't read it and I did fine on the poly. Don't get all worked up about it - it's stressful and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, but I really don't think it's a big conspiracy like a lot of people on this site say. I have my own views on it and how it works, but I don't recommend trying to beat it.
This should stir up a hornet's nest....

I fully agree with "not the original" the CPS poly is tough and stressful, but do not try to cheat on it but using the tactics on the anti-poly site. Getting caught there would result in a lifetime deferral just like lying does so you are better off playig it straight the whole way. But to all of you who are taking it soon, you should go in there knowing you disclosed every possible thing you could remember on you PDF. Then go in there and just answer the questions. Regardless of what guest thinks I did not get deferred because of the poly but rather for some other reasons which I will hopefully find out soon from my file manager. Had I been deferred due to the poly it would have been a liftetime deferral and not only 2 years. Good luck to all of you taking the poly soon.

Romano: At the Vanpd and RCMP information meeting, it was mentioned that if you lied or were found unsuitable etc, that they would give you the 2 years retry as a matter of policy. The officer giving the presentation mentioned that basically that was it, and that there was no point retrying if you were disqualified for those reasons. They always say 2 years even if they mean for life. You have to remember that Recruiting is also a PR situation. They want to present a good image even if you aren't going to belong to their organization. Find out what the problem was. Let us know. Hopefully it wasn't the poly and it was something eles IE a mistake of some sort. good luck.

Wow.. funny how the original question becomes a question of how the poly can screw everybody. Annnnnyways, its been a month now since I put in my app and I still have not received notification of testing dates from CPS. To anyone out there who has applied with them, is this a normal waiting period?

Phil, it took me just over a month to get a response after I had sent my application in. Wait another week or two and then I'd call and make certain that you application has arrived.

Thanks for the response, Romano. I sent it in with a courier, and they called me when they dropped it off. They made many assurances that they actually gave it to a person at a desk, so I'm not too worried about that. Any suggestion as to who I should talk to if I need to call?

Phil
Wait a couple more weeks, or if you can't just call the regular number in the phonebook/website. The receptionist will answer any questions you may have as to the status. Remember it was Christmas break, so the recruting unit was probably pretty dead for a week or two with the silly season festivities, so they may have a backlog. If anything, you don't want to pester them with constant calls. Good luck with the process, and drop me line if you have any questions.

Dave, funny you should mention "pestering" them. I was thinking the exact same thing! I figured with Christmas and New Years, etc etc, they lose almost a week of time for processing things, so I wanted to hold off for a bit more on it and if it really came down to it I would call them. I will let you know if I have any more questions. Thanks everyone!
