Hello,
I wrote my test in January. I consider it as a nightmare.
It is long and hard.........basically a lot of questions, but not enough time.....
You can go to buy some study guides. They all are quite useful. If you want to write it in November, you will have plenty of time to prepare for it. Just go to the bookstore and buy all the study guides, and do it again and again.
I am still waiting for my score. Please let me pass it....... Anyone from F division and take the test on January?

I consider it as a nightmare. Really? You found it that bad...I've written it twice, and didn't have any problems. Its a standard aptitude exam, buy some books from chapters if you want, but all you really need to do is study the areas that are on the exam...reading, comprehension, memory, math, logic, etc...for a more complete list please vist www.rcmp.ec.gc.ca/ and click on the recruiting link. ;D

Nightmare desk and chair are too small, I had a sore neck and muscles after the test. I think I am too big...panda I answered many questions wrong even though I knew the answers..... Memeory part was difficult. Given 5 minites to memorize too much information, and then have to wait 30 minutes to answer it. Vocabulary was difficult. Logic was difficult. Math was difficult. I think a book called Police Guide (Red and White cover) is really helpful. If you do that test, you will for sure get a good mark over 80% at the Alberta test. RPAB is more difficult than municipal police tests. RCMP is looking for candidates with different qualities. ;D I am still waiting for my score.... cross my fingers....really hope to pass it.

One thing that I did that was helpful, was that they gave you 5 minutes to memorize 2 pages of info. I can't go into details on what that info was, but what I did was AS SOON AS they handed out scrap paper ( 10 minutes after that.) Write down EVERYTHING you remember from the booklet. Easy marks then.
Good luck.

Thats great advice Bob, and its one of the key things that the Barron's book advises you to do. If you pick up the Barron's book to study thats great (its what I used) BUT dont' get bogged down with the sections that don't relate to canadian exams (report writing, procedures, etc.) Just go over the general study tips and sections relating to the sections on the RPAT. Also review your grade 9 math and Grade 11 English...

Try this site. I wrote the RPAB last month and used this along with the RCMP study guide, both were extremely helpful in sharpening my skills. I did well on the test to get through to the next stage, so thats good news! www.testprepreview.comGood luck!

Download the guide on the RCMP's website...it will give you a rough idea of what to expect.
Start reading through the newspaper and attract yourself to unusual words/phrases. You can also use the newspaper, take a photograph/photographs and study them for 5 minutes, have someone else write some questions regarding the pictures...then a half hour later, answer the questions....this really helps if you have a terrible memory.
I didn't find it that bad....there is never enough time for any tests, just make sure you pace yourself and don't spend time stressing over the questions, just move on and go back to them...
You've got a lot of time to prepare....good luck!
