I have done everything, interview, medical & dental... BGI is almost done. (okay so not everything) but they called me today and said that I have to come in to do my Security Clearance Interview. I didn't know about that...I thought all I had to do was the forms. What goes on in that? Anything I should know beforehand? I did hear that they might be using a polygraph test...is this where they would use it? No idea...
Any help or advice would be welcomed!
Thanks,
Stewart, BC

BC, unlike most other provinces, to my knowledge, does their security and suitability interviews seperately. Usually the suitability interview first (typically the longer one), followed by the security interview (if you pass the former). Many other divisions do both on the same day (as was my experience). Have you had 2 interviews? Or just the one?
The security interview is basically to determine if you're shady... drugs, alcohol, gambling...etc.... I have not heard of anyone actually getting the polygraph, they have talked about it for a while, but I have yet to see it implemented.
Hope this makes sense.

I did have my Interview (without Security Interview) and passed that. That was back in early November 2004. Since then I have done all my medical appts, and passed that. But during that interview, they did ask that 'drug' question and some of that other stuff. ...nothing really about gambling though but I have no troubles in that department. They did give me some info on Polygraphy Testing...but it was vague on weither or not that they might/might not do it, or when (if at all).

I still have to do that as well... so they ask questions, like they did on my first interview? Little redundant isn't it?

Very odd they started the BGI and did the psych medical/dental before the security interview...
I have done the RMSI and the Security interview and am now waiting for the BGI, Medical/dental and psych...
Chances are the security interview is no big deal for you. Just be honest and try to remember as much as you can now including dates. The only "studying" you can do is to rack your brain about your past... For me that was fairly hard as I am not even close to fresh out of school.

They are doing my BGI as an 'ongoing' thing, but in the meantime, they had me do my Dental/Medical/Physc stuff, right after my Interview. The only thing that I have left is my Security Clearance on Jan 5th. I guess that they do some things out of order to speed the process up... ANYTHING to speed the process up would be appreciated!

Looks like alot of us are in that same position. All my other items are done, and the only thing left is my Security Interview. So they just ask about your background stuff? Any information would be great!

Hello,
I had my security interview immediately following my selection interview. The security interview is by a mile far easier and involves less thought than the selection interview. Its basically yes and no answers followed by descriptions if answering yes. There is no preparation. Its either you have done something or you haven't. eg. different types of drugs, alcohol, gambling. The interviewer is just trying to figure out what type of person you may be. Some applicants also may find this interview uncomfortably personal. As far as I know the security interview can disqualify you just as fast as the selection interview dependent upon certain answers you may give. For example, If youv'e smoke pot or did mushrooms a few times several years back its not a huge deal. But if youv'e ever done coke or anything a little more serious, you might be out of luck if you decide to mention it. The best you can do is just relax and answer the questions to the best of your ability. I don't think you will find it stressfull at all..................Later

I had tried cocaine when I was 18 and while I know it was a bad choice I told the recruiter about it. I am now 35 and have never tried it again. Some of us make bad choices and I personally have learned and know that I will never experiment again. I don't want to get to the background investigation and have anything come up. I told the recruiter everything and if I got bounced so be it. I know that nothing else will come up and I can feel confident that I will move on from the BGI. I made it through and told nothing but the truth.
Cheers

5 January 05 – Security Interview at 1300hrs - Got fingerprinted and was asked alot of questions more or less like my other interview. more security like though. this was for Top Secret clearance. fun fun. and verified information that was in my folder (address, friends, work etc...) They said , that it could be 4 to 6 weeks for them to conduct the Security Investigation (despite the fact that I heard that it can be done in 3 or 4 days) and that they would forward my file on once they are done. Just have to dig up a few facts about step-brothers....
That is the last thing that I had to do...everything else is done! Just sitting back waiting for the phone to ring... Looks like I will have to do that PARE test again, it expires end of March. we shall see! the end is in sight...just patience now!
Cheers,

NCR applicant.
If you think your situation is strange I did my Suitability Interview Sept 22nd, they said nothing about the security interview, then in early Dec they called and asked a few trival questions about were I lived and When and said I'd get a pakage about my medical and what have you shortly now its Jan 17th and still have recieved or herd anything... still no security Interview no medical.. nothing and my pare expires any day. Here in Ottawa they sure have a strange system. When was your Interview? actually, whats your timeline so far? In one of the other threads some guy from the NCR left for depot on the ninth but his timeline is an exact match for mine.... strange

Well....I thought that they were done all my Security Clearance ...BUT they called me to come in this afternoon, 7 weeks after my first interview, to go over a few more things. So much for packing for the Depot any time soon I guess. Nothing in my past that I am worried about...yet I am all the same. Will keep ya posted!
