Got a call from the RCMP today. They said they reviewed my application/interview & have changed the 1-year deferal to a 2 year deferal...which means 1 year, 11 months & a few days before I can try for my dream again. Part of me tells me to go try for Vancouver city, however I want to be a RCMP member so bad tho... A frustrating turn of events. Their reason was: They felt I needed to show over a consitat period of time that my disicions on who I am friends/associate with is consitant with what they are looking for. Fully understand that, just super hard to take

That sucks Gary Sorry to hear about that. I know how it feels to get that deferral and its not fun. My deferral was up in June of this year, and I'm just putting the package together to resubmit. Don't let this get you down. Take the info that was given to and make yourself the best possible canidate for next time! Good luck with everything.

I'm from the lower mainland also I'm just so frustrated today. The person that interviewed me is the person that called, so I guess appealing isn't really going to help & I dont think they want people complaining that they think they are wrong. It's tough tho, I know it's only a month but I REALLY worked very hard to lay out a foundation on how I would present myself to them in a year, I even went as far as keepin distance from those people & making sure I make the perfect decisions on where I go, what I do & who I do it with. This is just a VERY tough pill to swollow, I'm young (22) but this is a long period of time, I guess I'll have to deal with it.

That sucks it, sorry man. I got a two year deferral too. 8 months down now, and I can still feel the sting. It was a FAST 8 months though. Long days, short months. Just work and what you can, volunteer, keep your nose clean, make yourself a good applicant. Good idea to look into an appeal, doesn't really matter if the interviewr like you afterwards, I think it shows that you are serious about this job. You can always go Van PD, and transfer into RCMP later. I'm looking at all the muni forces in the lower mainland. There are about 10, so ones gotta hire me, right? Good luck man, I'm in the same boat.

Yea one can apply with muni. forces but I think its not a smart idea.Because I've tried doing that as well, I even passed APCAT (Calgary police test). But then I talked to some one who's in law enforcement .He suggested me to wait for that period I got defferd for, because I got defferal for some reasons.I should work on the weak points of mine and bounce back being more competitive.Another reason he gave me was that we have to put the names of all the police forces we've applied with and they can always ask each other why this candidate got deffered. And I strongly believe that no body is going to hire you unless you overcome the weak points outlined by the previous police agency. But thats what I think, if You guys feel like applying.Go for it....Good luck
