I've been a Police Constable with a municipal department in BC for about two years. The main reason I decided to go Muni was basically due to the fact that they hired me fast, while the RCMP was simple taking way too long to go from stage to stage. By the time I got to the interview stage of the RCMP, I was immediately hired my the Muni dapartment. The problem is that my dream and goal was always the RCMP and now I'm seriously considering a transfer. If anyone has experience with this, I would love to hear your feedback.
Thanks in Advance.

Signup at Blueline ( www.blueline.ca/forum/). There are a few officers over there that have gone the transfer route, you will find both good and bad transfer stories.

Why so you can wear a Red Serge? It's not the same going there for 5 weeks as it is going there for 24 and living through the h.e. double hockey sticks.

A troopmate of my husband's transferred from muni and although he could have just done it the 'easy way', he opted to go thru the entire Depot experience. I think that's definitely the way to go...and I don't think he regrets his decision either.

We have a new member that just transferred from a muni... he opted for the short stint at depot.
He is doing great and loving the job - wonderful change for him to get out of the city and just more opportunity all around.

He is doing great and loving the job - wonderful change for him to get out of the city and just more opportunity all around. Tell me more about the short route. One thing I know is that I've recieved top notch training in the extensive nine month recruit training program I went through here. Therefore, I'm not too crazy about spending another 5 months in depot. I would certainly be taking a large pay and pension cut by transeffering to the RCMP, but for now, my ambitions are pushing me towards the many special sections and opportunities that exist within the RCMP. As much as I enjoy city policing and taking lots of calls, I would like to one day get into larger things on a Fedaral and international scale. I believe the RCMP would offer that chance. I am very hard working and have much to offer, but before making any moves, I want to be absolutely sure. I just need to hear it from someone who has already been through it and can give me some feedback. Thanks.
