maybe the runner of this site should form groups of people in the same division and/or have forums for each divison as they can be very different from eachother,im in "h" division and i think it would be convient for myself as well as others

I think the dude that got this site going is in Tennessee USA. I don't think he gives a rats arse about us canucks. If you look at the hundreds of other categories on here, there is a big american portion. Us Canadains just took it over by storm and been using this site for rcmp and other muni forces here. Well that is my story....and are you really doing justice to Sam Steele by using his name as a post name? The dude deserves a little more respect for how he has formed the early days of the rcmp.
regards, Insp. Walsh, RNWMP

I understand what you are trying to accomplish, but given the fact that 90+% of the regular posters on here are Canadian, and the only active threads have to do with Canadian LEA's I don't think its really required. As was said earlier we Canucks have taken over this board in force...
and if ya don't like it then you can just Bite moose hoser! ;D ;D

If you're interested in that then just start up specific threads for your division and invite others in that division to share ideas. I think it's been tried before and didn't take off as well as the main RCMP thread so it died off but you could always take another kick at the can I guess. As for my husband (the "applicant"), we're in Can't Division. That's can't live 6 months with no pay, can't live 6 months without a husband and father division. D's Wife

This is in response to D's wife, give him a chance to live his dream or at least try.

Ds wife, I feel your pain . Our situations sound simmilar. It's easy to stress ourselves out over the serious lack of finances we will have for six months, but there IS a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow....we just have to travel through some serious clouds before we find it! Good luck!

I have to agree with giving some serious consideration to supporting your husband's dream. I realize every situation is different, and for some, depot is more difficult than for others. Our family had a "do whatever it takes" team mentality. We put our stuff in storeage, (we rented a townhouse not owned, though), moved to Weyburn (1 hr from Regina--my parents live there), I applied for jobs (but didn't have to work after all, because somehow his unemployment insurance person decided to send us to a "sponsor" and they arranged to keep the cheques coming the entire 6 months!) and drove every weekend to pick him up/take him back to Regina and so we could see him. Actually, we had a great time! The move back was kind of brutal because you don't get very much assistance when you move to within ?klms of where your stuff is stored and we were posted back where we came from. I would do it again in a heartbeat! You just never know how it will work out until you begin to move in that direction.

Sorry, I guess I may have given the impression it was ever my husband's dream to become a mountie....it's not. And I guess some got the impression that I was the one getting in his way . He's recently been hired on with Calgary and he'll be able to fulfill his dream of being a police officer, redcoat or no redcoat. However, being a present and active husband and father has been and will always be his number 1 dream and now he can do both by staying municipal. Depot is certainly doable for sure, many have done it (ie. Dot for example) and may more will, even married with young children. However, you have to count the cost and for some, priorities are going to fall in different places than for others.

D's Wife; That's great that your dh got onto the Calgary police force but when I post an opinion like the one above, it's with more than one person in mind. There are wives who are hesitant about supporting their husband in pursuing his dream and I believe, sometimes, it is a mistake. Many opportunites are lost because a spouse is not willing to take a risk and I wanted to encourage spouses to give careful thought to putting the kibosh on something like this because it doesn't TEXT do-able but in reality may just be. Besides, you can't blame a person for jumping to conclusions when the info isn't provided
