Koby, It has been my experience that those types of events are pretty low key, and not very intense. There is certinly nothing to stress about. They basically just make first contact with you, probably give you more paper work to fill out and see if you can touch your toes. I would take the advice posted earlier about finding out exactly what you should bring and be prepared for. It would really look bad if you showed up in jeans and a "T" shirt and everyone elese is dressed in shorts and ready to do the agility test. ;D Best of luck and keep us all posted. T.COTE

Koby;
As a former police commissioner just outside of Chicago, I can tell you that the orientation part will be an information session, where you will be given info about the department and the testing procedures, you will usually be able to ask questions at that time.
As for the physical, you can pretty much expect to do the POWER test, which is the test that must be passed at the academy in the first or second week of training, if you can't pass it on the second try, GOODBY. Therefore many departments are using it to see if a candidate is physically fit before testing and hiring him/her.
Not all departments use the POWER test for entrance, there may be a slightly different version, but expect to run a mile or so, lift some weights, strech, situps, pull ups, pushups, etc.
Good luck, JimCMR
