Not sure if I can help with this issue or not but I live here in the greater DFW area. And, I generally have some knowledge about the Dallas PD even though I don't work for this department BUT,... I have worked with them on a number of occasions...
SO,...if you have any questions, I'll help out if I can... -- Charlie

Ok well because their recruitment is continuous and they test new applicants everyday , what is an average on how long it may take to complete the hiring process from start to end.

Cop2be--
That's a very difficult question to answer due to a number of factors. First, it all depends upon the individual's qualifications, testing results and background information. For example, if you are from the local area and have lived here most of your life, then it may be easier and quicker to complete your background than say someone who's lived in multiple locations outside the DFW area. Hence, the needed information will be easier to gather on someone and as a result, you might be pushed through the system a little quicker.
Secondly, if you were not aware, DPD's general recruiting and hiring practices have come under extreme fire in recent months. I am not going to go into great detail but I have heard that as a result, they've really tightened up their hiring standards and processing. Hence, I have generally heard it is pretty tough to successfully process and get on board the department now. Unfortunately, I don't have any details or insider information as to WHAT, specifically, are the areas in question that have made the hiring process much more difficult in comparision to the recent past.
Finally, you have to keep in mind that with most any departments out there, you're typically looking at several months to complete the entire hiring process. I am confident that DPD will fall into this category as well. In light of DPD's recent controversy with their hiring practices, I think an "average" processing time hasn't been figured out just yet but I would say it's safe to say your loooking at months.
Hope this might help in some way... -- Charlie

Yea the whole problem of the background checks and how they hired that one officer who had a domestic violence conviction from Alaska. But the reson for my previous question is because Dallas does not ever have a freeze in hiring, its continuous. So i was just curious as to on average, how many officers are hired a month or 2 moths or however frequently they hire. Thanks

Well, this is what I have "heard" recently which is NOT confirmed: Previous to the big controversy, (which appears that you seem to know a little about it with your reference to the officer who had the domestic violence conviction), they were hiring several people on a frequent basis. I don't know how this averaged per week, month, etc. at that time. BUT,...I heard recently the frequency has fallen to very low numbers. Last I heard something about the number of persons hired for the next or last academy class, since revamping the hiring process, only numbered something like 5 people! Again, I have no confirmation of this information but I would say there is likely some level of certainty they've tightend up on their hiring practices. Especially in light of the DA's concerns if you know what I'm talking about. At any rate, I think it is probably too early to come up with some sort of average since such dramtic changes have occurred only recently. I think the only thing you can count on in general is that the average number of hired persons has likely dropped dramatically. Regards, -- Charlie
