Is the RCMP using a polygraph yet?
I have heard conflicting stories and would like to know.
Has anyone actually TAKEN an RCMP polygraph?

The poly is not being used force wide. Does that mean it is being used in some LOCATIONS or in some CASES? What is the criteria?

Don't lose any sleep over the poly. Just go in and be completely honest and you will have nothing to worry about should the isssue ever arise. The polygraphers are there to help you pass. They want to see applicants through just as bad as the applicants themselves.

This is the Poly thread Journey so why are you making fun of George? Where would you rather he post his opinion of the poly? If you don't want to hear what he has to say read a different thread.
I don't understand you guys that have some sort of problem with George. He's entitled to his position on the poly and I would think that in a forum like this his opinion should be welcome, not ridiculed.
Besides that, anyone who has done any research on the Poly knows that his opinion is rooted in fact. Like it or not and whether or not you feel George is obsessed the fact remains, the poly process does have some pretty questionable aspects to it.
One last point. So many of you guys think you'd make good cops but you can't even listen to an opinion that varies from your own. What kind of an investigator do you really think you'll be if you're not open to ALL possibilities?

OK, I'll give you that one, it was kind of a cheap shot...
I don't have a problem with George's or even your opinions, I don't think I've ever once said anything bad about his work with the poly. I will agree with you that the poly is flawed in some respects, but its not a perfect world out there, so there are bound to be imperfect tools. However the poly is required by most forces and will be for a LONG time, therefore whether George's views on the poly are 100% correct or 100% wrong, applicants will still have to take and pass the poly.
As for your assertation, that some of us will not have the correct investigative skills since we won't listen to all sides. I have listened to both sides on this argument. I've read Georges site and book (most of it). I've also looked at other informtion regarding the poly from an examiner's POV...based on the info I've formed my own opinions on the poly...Just like you and George.
Cheers

I have just finished the whole process for hire, and there wasn't anything about a polygraph testing in there. Despite the fact that they also told me that in the Information Session, and again in the phamplets that they gave me. Nothing to hide... no biggy.

I can't remember exactly, but I believe Ontario has a law prohibiting the use of the poolygraph as a pre-employment tool...I remember hearing something about it over on Blueline...take a look over there, you might turn up more info.
