Hello all,
I'm new to the forum. Just wrote the RPAT earlier this month for the GTA region (O division). Here's my timeline:
June 10: Information session July 09: RPAT
After reading through the timelines especially for the O division, I got a sinking feeling that applicants in the O division is in for a long wait of 18mths or so. Does anyone know whether any applicants from this division got in less than a year? Any particular reasons why O div seems to take so much longer?
Anyways, best of luck to all my fellow applicants!
Bernie

I hope this doesn't make you feel worse, but it took them over a year to get me my RPAT results! You will eventually come to terms with the wait though. It actually gets harder to wait the closer you feel you are to going. There is always that, what if I invested all this time and planning into something that I could be deferred from tomorrow.... it is a challenge.
I know someone personally that went through the process and is now a Cst. and from what I can see it is worth every minute of the wait if you get in.
Good luck.

Hello,
Thanks for the encouraging words. Just wondering why it took A YEAR to get back your RPAT score? I thought it would only take 6 to 8 weeks.

Hi Bernie,
Nice to see another Toronto guy on board. It's possible that you might see a 1 year timeline...depends on how smooth your BGI is, and when they can schedule your interview/medical etc. I'm on month 20, and it looks like at least 21 before I go.
You can speed up the process by having everywhere you've worked ready to go, so that if you get a package you can return it promptly.

I got my RPAT score after my interview. I have no idea why.... probably got misplaced.... I was kinda surprised when I got my package and still no mark.

Hello Dave,
It's good to meet another fellow Torontonian. Congratulations on making it this far. Hope you get your depot date very soon...21mths!!! Talk about patience.
Thanks for the advice. I've had the same address for the last 10 yrs and have been with the same company ever since I started working so that should make BGI a bit smoother (if I ever get to that stage).
By the way, do you know where I could do a practice PARE in the GTA? I think I'll be alot more confident if I could have a trial run first.
Thanks again!
Bernie

I dont think that they have a free practice PARE session (like TPS does for PREP). However, if you can get into a PREP practice, do it. The test is similar, and there are many of the same components (push/pull, stair climb, fence climb...)
I know that Georgian College in Barrie has a PARE practice session for around 50 bucks (they might have changed the price), where you get a couple of hours to run the PARE at your pace, etc. There, the instructor also shows a video about it, and answers questions.

Hey DaveTO what's up with your application? I read your posts and it seems like you've been waiting a long time! I'm in "E" divison and I'm just waiting for my BGI to start. Hope you get some news soon man!

Hello all,
Received my RPAB combined score today. Kinda surprised as it only took 5 week. Does anyone have any idea what RPAB score would be considered competitive?
Thanks!

Not sure about the new RPAB scores, but if they still calculate it similar to the RPAT anything above a 4.0 usually means a package in a few weeks. What did you score if you don't mind sharing?

Hi,
I was wondering where anyone took their typing certificate in the southern Ontario? I have called some community colleges and they seem to have no idea what I'm talking about, any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

I did mine at a computer skills school. They charged me something rediculous like 50 bucks, but they were the only ones who I could find on short notice. The place was at Yonge/Eglinton in Toronto

Hello,
I got 4.33 on the RPAT. I believe they'll be doing the next round of selection in Oct for O division. Hopefully, I'll get an invitation.
