Hello everyone! I just thought that I would update everyone that remembers me with what I have been up to. I haven't posted on here in a while because I have been pretty busy. I had been in the hiring process for some time with the Delaware Dept. of Correction and I will be starting the DOC academy this Thursday. After the academy I will be assigned to one of the DOC facilities as a correctional officer. I am hoping to apply with some PDs here in Delaware after working in corrections for a while. I hope everything is going great for everyone here on the forum. Take care, Lisa

HOOOOOORRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D-Another alumni of this site hits the Law Enforcement field!!!!!!!Remember,do your best and hang"tight" in the Academy." Patrolling behind the walls" is just as tough, if not tougher, than the "streets"-You'll also get opportunities to work in investigations( DOCs' Detectives) ,K-9s,SWAT/SRT (SORT), and that position we "talked" about- Parole Agent-believe me, a parolee may talk sh*t to an officer on the street, but show up with his "P.O" in tow and he'll sing a different tune every time- To all of you "2bes"- the world of law enforcement has numerous options other than the traditional "street cop"-in many states and Provinces there are Transit cops,Sheriffs Deputies, special investigators,School/College Police officers,Parks Law Enforcement,Highway Patrol/State police, housing Authority PDs, Corrections Depts-DON'T LIMIT YOUR OPTIONS. Even if it takes moving to another place to make your dream come true,do it!Many alternate law enforcement agencies offer same or similar benefits, and often may offer a lifestyle that will fit your own in terms of experience, pay,opportunites....keep your options open.......

Good for you!!! I'm glad you got on board with the DOC.
Do you remeber our conversations earlier this year? Well, I've gotten wriiten testing dates over these next two weekends with the state police and the City of Dover. I know you applied to Dover. Did anything happen there?
I'd like to know what you think of the department.
Good luck with your new job!

Lich, Sorry it took me so long to reply; I've been really busy with the academy. Yes, I remember you and I am happy to see that you are testing with DSP and Dover. I actually didn't apply with Dover because they weren't actively hiring at that time, just taking applications. I have talked with a few people regarding Dover and I have heard that they are a good Dept, but very difficult to get on with. I couldn't test with them during this testing cycle because it conflicted with the DOC academy. From what the ad in the newspaper stated, I will be too old to apply with them later, as their cut off age seems to been lowered to 35; I could have sworn that the website stated 36? I will be 35 this February. How did your testing this weekend go? Was it with Dover? I wish you the best of luck in your testing and the rest of the hiring process. I'm sure you will do great. I have been through 2 days with the DOC academy so far and one of those was touring SCI in Georgetown, an interesting experience. The DOC academy runs a pretty tight ship, we finally start PT today. ;D Well, I've gotta run but I will keep you updated. Let me know how things go with you as well. Have a great day! Lisa
