-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here’s a curious question, how poorly would the candidate be looked upon by the recruiter if the candidate was recently pulled over for running a red light but NO ticket nor warning was issued by the police officer? Assuming this was the first time the candidate was pulled over in over almost two years times.

guess you have to check with the department you apply, PNG. ;D some department clearly indicate what they tolerate and what they don't.good luck.

I don't think it is a biggie. Unless you ran the light to speed from the grocery store you just robbed.
I think those actual tickets from two years ago will be more of an issue.
Why are you running red lights anyway? Now that I think of it, it is a big deal. I would wait another 5 years before you apply, can't have red light runners being police officers.
Ah...what do I know....I'm just some wannabe up late surfing the net.

I was approaching an intersection ready to make an left hand turn when the light turned yellow, i thought i could beat it so i accelerated and entered the intersection (with the light still yellow) and completed the turn, i guess it's possible the officer did not like the fact i accelerated my car. I explained my reasoning to the officer respectfully and nevertheless still apoligized for my actions. As someone i know once said, "Everyone is entitled to make mistakes, it's what you learn from it," and i definately learned something from it. I could see that if blatantly run an obvious red then i should probably wait a little while before i apply...i'm not saying what i've done was not dangereous, i'm just saying that at least my mens rea or intend was different..and i hope the recruiter won't be too hard on me because of this.

And yes, i will divulge this information to the recruiter even though i believed that there should be no record of me being pulled over since the officer didn't take down any information of me. When he was looking at my documents, he didn't even go back to his cruiser and it was no more than 10 seconds he was looking at it, after that he just sends me on my way. I doubt he took the time to memorized my driver licence number. My hope is that the recruiter will take my honesty into consideration when i tell them about this.

Yeah, I was just being a joker in that last post.
If police forces didn't pass people in the interview due to traffic mistakes, or going 5 over the speed limit etc., they would be hiring about 10 people a year. Now if these mistakes translate into tickets...well that is another issue. That would typically mean that your mistakes were serious enough or potentially dangerous enough to warrent a ticket..thus poor decision skills.

Don't divuldge that info unless specifically asked if you have ever been "pulled over" for anything. You were not issued a ticket or citation. No record so don't go confessing yourslef out of a job. I don't believe they ask questions like that so it should not be a problem.

I agree with what guest said...Don't ask Don't tell type thing. Trust me they could care less about this and it will only make you look like an "angel" who never does anything wrong...thus never learns from mistakes...

The reason why I am worried is because the police forces that I have applied for subscribe the Ontario Association of Chief of Police hiring process, and one of the questions on the Pre-background Questionnaire (which is giving out during the interview stage), requires me to divulge any run-ins with the police, unfortunately I’m not too sure whether that includes getting pulled over by the police or just criminal related offences…maybe someone could help me out here? But I plan to tell the recruiters…I doubt it will make that much of an impact on my application. This is definitely a learning experience for me, I just hope that the recruiters realize that and go easy on me.
