hi all, today i took a poly test and I think I did o.k. I answered all the questions trufully. one question in particular that drew his interest was "how many times have you drivin while under the influence of alcohol." I told him that while in college I have had driven after drinking 4 to 6 beers a couple of times but i didnt feel drunk when I did this. At the end of the poly (after the second run through and after I picked a card from a deck for him to test the machine which he said "was working good today") he asked me what my problem with alcohol was. I said that I didnt have one. he asked again if i had something to tell him about alcohol and again, i said no. He then finished unhooking the machine and said "o.k. were done." He then walked me out to the lobbyto leave. (he was'nt the friendliest guy in the world) I answered the questions honestly and I was wondering why the results read the way they did. (are these results going to affect my future in law enforcement?) any input would be appriciated.

Joe, I had pretty much the exact same experience with my poly. He grilled me about one issue imparticular and then he just suddenly said "ok we're done" He also said that this particular thing was the only thing reading strangely on the test. Just thought you would want to know you weren't alone.

Joe,
Have you done any studying on the poly? The card deally was a trick as old as cards themselves to make you think he could tell if you were lying. Sounds like you handled it properly by not bending and telling him what he wanted to hear (a confession). You stuck to your story according to your post. As long as you didn't change your story or say to him that "well maybe I did drink and drive more than a couple of time" or "maybe I did have 6 to 8 drinks and not 4 to 6" you should be OK.
Did you at any time get asked by the polygrapher to "help him out". Did he ask you, since you were not exactly sure how many times you drank and drove, to say you did it maybe 10 or 15 times to clear your conscience before he hooked up the machine? If you said anything other than the exact number you wrote in your pre-poly questionairre you are sunk. He will chalk your change in story up to a confession and fail you.
If you stuck to your story and never once changed answers you should be fine.
Good luck.

Wow, you've got me a bit scared now. I've driven drunk maybe 30-40 times. Hope that question doesn't come up.

My advice to Bourne from your response to this thread and from your other posts.
Please consider another career!
Drinking and driving 30-40 times shows a pattern of repeated criminal behavior. You are fooling yourself if you think questions regarding alcohol use and driving won't be brought up. Save yourself the humiliation of being bounced out of the process.

Not to discourtage you Steve, but I agree with guest...I've been a little "concerned" about your chances based on your other posts as well...

I agree! Steve it sounds like you have quite the past. You may want to consider a different line of work. If you have driven drunk 30-40 times its amazing you haven't killed anyone yet! I hope I don't live near you.
