Hey all,
For any who are interested in the Edmonton Police Service here are my test results from todays fitness test. Let me tell you every aspect of this test is to MAXIMUM effort and it took 3 hours to complete.
VO2 Max: 42
Body Fat %: 15.5
Lower Body Flexibility: 59cm
Chin ups: 20
Dips: 28
Curl Ups (1 min): 71
The other three are lower body power, upper body power, and fatigue ratio, but the numbers would be meaningless to you here as they are stated in Watts/Kg
Oh and my Obstacle Course time was 2:27
The test is hard because it is a MAX effort test (excluding the VO2 Max) and I have heard from various sources that competitive scores in the chins, dips and curl ups are basically double the minimums (9, 15, 34 respectively).......when I first started training for the test my chins were at 8, dips 15 and curl ups 55... in two months I achieved the scores above, so I hope that motivates anyone out there who is considering apply for EPS but are hesitating because of the fitness standards......If you want to know how I trained just send me a private message and I will send you my email address. One piece of advice I will give you is LISTEN TO THE EVALUATERS INSTRUCTIONS!!! If they tell you on chins for example to lock your arms out at the bottom and bring your chin to the bar at the top, then do that exactly as they have told you. Do NOT bring your chin over the bar as it will only tire you out quicker because to do that takes maximum contraction of the muscles involved.....same goes with the other tests LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN....and then DO EXACTLY as they have instructed....Hey one more thing, the evaluaters are great, laid back and make you feel comfortable, so enjoy the experience. Cheers to all and good luck to all LEO applicants
ps. here's the EPS fitness standards website address.
