I have a minor past criminal history. I was caught shoplifting but never charged and I had a charge of Battery dismissed. So no convictions or anything. I am filling at an application for a reserve to a small department and on the application they never ask about past criminal activity. My question is should I send with my application the information about my past or just let the backgroud investigator find it and when he does explain it then? Thanks for everyones help

Scool, I would say that if they did not ask for that information don't volunteer it. However, I do not recommend trying to hide anything from your past if they have indeed asked about any criminal history.

Most agencies require that you list all CONVICTIONS-during backgrounds you will be required to answer more in depth issues-be honest and forthright when asked. If those past indescretions are truly just that-past ,youthful/immature incidents- you'll be okay!you've been on this site long enough and know what to do-good luck...
