background and medical problem for a pro

wondering if I could get some help with some questions I have I would like to know if its even possible for me to become a police officer any more.
sorry my stories long but its  because details might matter and this is very important to me ive always had the goal of becoming a police officer or reserve officer.
let me start with my background:

I was a explorer as a teenager
ive worked security, loss prevention, security management and currently executive protection.
ive been threw more training then most people in my area
security schools, citizen police academys, various self defense class’s, report writing class's,baton,chem.,832,fistaid,cqb class's,tactics & survival class,various permits & certs., and various awards from the state and jobs and ect.

as for my problems I have a few

1. a old battery charge from 10 years ago or a few months till 10 years ago. it was considered domestic violence because I it involved my mother in law. looking back I wasn’t guilty and  was stupid and shouldn’t have pled guilty received probation.

2. violating a restraining order incident happened aprox.9-10 years ago but I was conv. and sentenced 61/2 years ago. my xwife pulled a good one on me got a restraining order asked me to come over then when we argued called the police on me I left and thought that was the end of it but 3 years later I had a warrant and I turned myself in. I was sentenced to 3 months in jail.

3. loaded firearm in vehicle     4  1/2 - 5 years ago
I was working a detail with some PO and security friends of mine and had a police type id note I said type this was so the companies owner could pass everyone off as cops. well I got pulled over by the highway patrol and they saw the id in my wallet and asked to see it I said OK and was arrested for fake state seals on an id and a loaded fire arm in a vehicle.  I was not arrested for impersonation because I told them I wasn’t a PO even before I showed them the id............... the id charges where dropped but I pled guilty to the loaded firearm in a vehicle a misdemeanor and received probation

4. marijuana
I have in the past twice smoked marijuana once 8 years ago a x girl friend got me to do it I did it because I wanted to get laid. and what’s more a problem in my mind is 3 years ago I was working a EP deal ( executive protection / bodyguard) and had some trust issues with a client so I took a few puffs to get them to trust and like me more I regret that.  <br>
5.steroids  <br>   I have used steroids twice once 9 years ago didn’t use them right didn’t know how took a few pills. and one year ago I did a two month cycle.

6. injuries
I was injured in a car accident and my  left hand was badly damaged. I can do most things with it now but my middle finger joint the one at the top is fused. my finger binds in half but not the little end at the top part. I can make a fist and my fingers close like a fist but my middle finger and ring finger don’t close tightly all the way there’s probably enough room for a small finger to be under them like how you would hold a sword. my fingers are all strong and I can do mostly anything I just don’t know if this will dq me

I was going to hire an attorney to expunge my record and get back my gun rights that the domestic violence case has changed because of the recent laws passed.

also im allmost 31 and live in california if thats important.

so do I have a chance in hell...whats going to do me in...where should i or shouldnt i apply. i would work federal state what ever maybe where ever to get in.  is there any where I can go anything I can do what if I pay my way threw an academy would anybody accept me. is there any other places or sites i could get info to help me. this is something ive allways wanted and no amount of time , money or effort would be to much.

The domestic battery conviction, which took away your rights to firearms, (A law I personally disagree with) will bar you from becoming a Police Officer, as you would not be able to carry a firearm.

As a former Police Commissioner, who was responsible for hiring, I would most likely reject your application at first glance.  You may be one of the nicest guys in the world, but past history counts real big in hiring decisions.

I think you may want to put some effort into seeking a different career, maybe you can find something where your past experience and training will be useful, possibly bodyguard work or something similar.

Sorry I had to be the one to bust your bubble, but you were looking for an answer.

EP_Guy--Unfortunately, I think Jim's right on the mark with this one. I have to agree with him.

I am certain that you have sincere regrets for making those mistakes in the past but the fact is, those incidents in your life would be looked at very hard by most any agency you decide to apply with. And, I think it is likely you would would not be hired. Primarily because of the domestic violence charge/conviction.

On the brighter side of things, sounds like to me you've got a lot going for you right now in the executive protection profession. I know several cops who have an interest in that field as well. And I know in some cases, it pays pretty well.  

You might have your heart set on the LE profession but unfortunately, because of those past mistakes, you might be prohibited from getting into the profession.

Stick with what you've got going for yourself now. I would say your field of expertise is probably in even more demand than ever. 8)
