do you need prior law enforcement experience to become a member of the illinois secretary of state police ? i looked at their website, and my take was that it was required . i guess i could call but thought i would ask here first ;D. it also mentioned something about their trainee program for investigators. are all of their uniformed officers considered "investigators" ? i thought the website would be a little more informative . junior 8)

Junior: The Illinois SOS Police, is one of the best kept secrets in Illinois. I'm sorry to say I don't know a thing about them, other than that they exist. If you checked their Web site, you are well ahead of me. They don't have any representation on the Illinois Fire & Police Commissioners Association, so I don't know how one goes about applying. I guess your best bet would be to call them and ask. Going to the source is usually the best approach to take. Sorry I could not have been of much help. JimCMR
