On Thursday, Dec. 6th, the Los Angeles Board of Civil Service Commissioners is scheduled to consider proposed changes to the LAPD's pre-employment polygraph policy. The most important of these changes is that "failing" the polygraph would no longer be permanently disqualifying, and those accused of deception would be allowed to re-apply the following year.
For more on this, see the message thread "LAPD Dropping Requirement to Pass Polygraph?" on the AntiPolygraph.org message board. (Note that the board meeting that was to take place on the 21st of November was canceled and the polygraph issue will be taken up on Dec. 6th.)
