Hello.  I've been considering a career change (to LE) recently.  I have two questions:

1) I'm 27 years old.  Is there an age cap or maximum applicant age that might preclude me from applying in the next couple of years?

2) My ethnic background is Middle-Eastern.  I am a US citizen.  However, in light of the Sept.11 attacks I am certain that this may "raise some eyebrows".  Am I correct in thinking that this may pose a problem for me?

First of all, Welcome to the Board!

You shouldn't have a problem with your age being 27.  As for your Middle Eastern Nationality, I am not sure, but in theory it shouldn't be a problem...

You are at a very good age to be applying, and will be for the next 3 or 4 years.

As for your ethnic background, if you are familiar with the customs and language of your particular ethnic background, or of other ethnic customs and languages, that could be a plus in your favor, especially if yoy are applying in an area with a large middle eastern population.

As long as you are a US citizen, there should be no problems with your applications, providing you meet all the other requirements that the agency has in place, such as education, residency, etc.

Welcome to the cops2be site.  

One ... you are actualy at a good age to apply.  A very good age.  Alot of departments are looking for canidates that are a little older and have a little more life experience behind them.

two.  as for your ethnic background this should not hurt you.  Key word should.  are there going to be redneck @#$'s out there that will hold that against you, yes.  Will you run into them?  let hope not.  and as Jim said it shouild actualy be a plus.
