ABOUT A YEAR AGO I APPLIED TO ANOTHER POLICE DEPT. AND I LIED ABOUT MY PAST DRUG USE ON THEIR QUESTIONNAIRE. MY QUESTION IS IF NOW ON MY CURRENT QUESTIONNAIRE I TELL THE TRUTH, WILL THEY CHECK ON THE OTHER ONE AND SEE THAT THEY DON'T MATCH? AND IF NOT WILL IT EVER COME BACK TO HAUNT ME? JUST WANTING TO KNOW.......I DON'T HAVE A QUESTIONNAIRE YET FOR MY CURRENT APPLICATION. JUST WANT TO BE READY WHEN I DO. I'VE BEEN WAITING........AND WAITING..........AND WAITING FOR THEIR CALL FOR THE POLY EXAM! ANYWAYS THANKS GUYS!

Santiago--Well, it is a good possibility the other departments you aplpy with will find out about your answers concerning the past drug use question. Most likely, you'll sign off on a release of information waiver and you can bet there is a high likelihood the background investigator will contact other agencies to find out what they found out about you. So, if I were you, I would be prepared to explain why, truthfully, you lied in the first place when the appropriate time comes. Can this hurt your chances of getting hired? Yes it could but if you come clean about it, it might help you out. On the other hand as well, depending upon who you apply with, it could be quite damaging. Just depends. Think about it a moment.....if you lied on a previous application, how do you think it will make you look? What would YOU think about someone, if you were the B.I. checking them out and you found out about this information about an applicant? A lot to think about. But ultimately, it's all on you. I now at my PD when we check out folks and find out they purposely withheld information or lied, we usually eliminate them quickly from further consideration. ;D Nevetheless, good luck and I hope you learned something out of it. Maybe you'll get another chance..... Charlie
