*** Read "Slightly Apprehensive" for Background ***
I checked into the Ride-A-Long program for the Municipal Police Department with which I am currently applying. I was told that the Ride-A-Long program is only available to Citizen's Academy students and Criminal Justice majors who have a Ride-A-Long program as part of their curriculum.
Please let me know what you think about this. Does this sound normal?
Thanks, ---Justin

Ride-a-long programs vary from one department to the next. Apparently, at the agency you're interested in riding with, they have their policy. So, as an alternative if you want to ride with a department, why not check with other departments in the area. I'd be willing to bet that other cops at other departments are likely either: Former cops with the department you're interested in OR, they likely know a few cops at the agency you're interested in. ;D
As far as if that's normal.....well, like I said, each department sort of does their thing.
