Hi there,
what would be a competitive RPAT score for a minority male?

Isn't that the RCMP entrance test? well,It shouldn't matter as long as you score high( within the top 10-15 %).Minority applicants are being sought to ease community distrust and promote diversity.Race shouldn't have to be a factor anymore, but sadly it sometimes still is.Add to that growing new immigrant communities, that often times still cling to their own cultural traditions( and bias also) and you begin to see why having a "representative in blue" from their culture can sometimes make sense. However, whether minority or non- minority,YOU MUST SCORE HIGH!!! Study, meet with agency officials(officers, personnel reps),prepare! If you are a member of an under represented community that the agency is trying to hire, then YOU MUST SHOW THAT YOU ARE THE BEST.Low scores mean nothing and SHOULDN'T be accepted to get in the "door" just because of race(let them know that you are not a "slider").Find that required info. and prepare yourself...Good luck.

Hi there, I agree with Cpl_mike, but all that being said, I know that the last cut off mark for the RPAT was 4.0/5.0, so that is really high!!! I suggest studying the RPAT guidelines on the website, studying vocabulary and grammer, refreshing your memory skills and checking out police guide books to help you with the situational analysis. Good luck

As I understand it the RCMP have set 3.20/5.0 as the 'pass' mark for the RPAT. I believe that for applicants in desireable groups (ie. women and minorities) a pass is all that is required to proceed to the next step. For non minority applicants generally a 3.8 to 4.0 is required in order to proceed.
Is this fair? I'm not sure. Does this mean than minorities and females are less qualified to be members? I don't think so. Just remember that the RCMP is a very very very long process. I'd suggest contacting the recruiting office in your division for more info on the affirmative action initiatives within the RCMP I get the sense that they are quite desperate for more diverse applicants.
Best of luck!

That is a myth that women and visible minorities only have to pass the exam at 3.20. The playing field is currently the same for all. Trust me.

That's not true. The passing mark is still 3.20. Where are you writing your exams?
