Too simple-just show up! ( I assume you have your class date, what is it Class#02-02,03-02?) Be sure to be time, park in the designated area ( You should be at the Manchester Ave facility here in Weschester).Lunch is NOT free and the first week will mostly be orientation( the cafe is very good and you are not allowed to go off the facility to get something to eat despite the fact that the area has plenty of food spots- its for YOUR OWN SAFETY, the local knuckle heads know what an LAPD Smurf looks like) have at least a weeks rotatable business attire, and well groomed -no mustasche! you'll be set up with LAPRAC shop requirements and won't immediately have to buy anything, but I suggest good police service oxfords, lace ups like thoroughgoods(hated bates and they don't last long!!!) the shoes must be shineable by you ,no koroframs(SP?),I got carried away, and thought of my long ago class (#11-90),just take at least $10.00 / day for lunch

HI CPLMIKE, THE FEBRUARY CLASS WAS CANCELED SO THE NEXT DP WOULD BE MARCH 11. THATS GOOD FOR ME BECAUSE IT GIVES ME A LITTLE MORE TIME TO GET IN SHAPE.

More like, NOT ENOUGH CANDIDATES,PERIOD-sorry to hear that sir112 but that is what LAPD is facing.for every 50+ recruit officers(LAPD doesn't call them "cadets",ugghhh, dorky name!) that go through the academy,50+ officers quit or retire per month. They used to cycle a class a month, but here in Calif. almost 80% of the depts statewide are testing or hiring , and with L.A. politics, it drives away candidates elsewhere in the state, and the good ol' days of 50-100 recruits a month just doesn't happen anymore.(my class in '90 graduated 62 out of 69, my friends 2001 class graduated "25") Sir112 exercise and pick up the calif.penal code book, vehicle code book, and peace officers legal source book-don't expect to understand it all, but start reading, and when the #03-2002 class(03-02) starts ,it'll put you a head. good luck future "P-1" dawg......

cpl mike, the smell can be intoxicating.....hillarious ;D!! it is nice to know that there are officers out there just like you, that still have the fire raging. especially after 12 yrs considering the turmoil that lapd has been in and is still going through. stay safe !! junior 8)
