hello all, If all of you had to summarize yourself in one word as a police officer or police officer aspirant, what would it be?
I was asked this at an interview, just curious as to what this board would use. Thanks for participating.

Hello T.Cote, As an aspiring LEO, if I had to summerize myself in one word it would be, dedicated. This is because I am 110% dedicated to the pursuit of a career in LE. I know it might sound like a run of the mill reply but it was the first thing that came to mind when I read your post and after thinking of various other one word descriptions that may apply, dedicated still came out on top. I am very interested to see what the other replies might be. Thanks for the thought provoking topic. Lisa

t. cote, the one word that comes to mind that i would use is something from this board . some time ago someone asked a similar question. jim, one of regulars offered his advice. the word is "scout." a boy/girl scout is dedicated, honest, loyal, trustworthy, curteous, helpful, etc. obviously these are ideal characteristics of a police officer, and hopefully you would incorporate these in your answer. ever since then that answer has stuck with me, so if i am ever asked i will be able to rattle it off, thanks jim . i think it is a good answer not only b/c they are traits of a good police officer, but b/c it also allows you an avenue to answer the question in more than one word....as long as they don't cut you off ;D. junior 8)

To Junior and the rest of the Cops2be.
It sure is good to see something come back that I wrote.
I'll repeat it for the newbies.
The Boy Scout traits:
A Scout is: Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent.
I learned those words 50 years ago, and have never forgotten them. I'd advise everyone reading this Board to learn them, and remember them, and above all practice them.
That is the end of my preaching.
Good luck to all.
A few of you know that my wife of 40 years died last year, I am happy to announce that on Valentine's Day, in the beautiful State of Hawaii, I got engaged to a lovely lady. If my posts seem a little more cheerful in the next few months, that just could be the reason.

CONGRATULATIONS JIM!!! What wonderful news! A proposal in Hawaii on Valentines day, what could be more romantic? Being an Irish "girl" I have to "toast" your wonderful news........ I wish you health, I wish you well, and happiness galore. I wish you luck for you and friends; what could I wish you more? May your joys be as deep as the oceans, your troubles as light as its foam. And may you find, sweet peace of mind, where ever you may roam.It looks like you had a great vacation. It's nice to see you back on the board. Congratulations again, Lisa
