A long time ago I applied for the Cali Highway Patrol and received a conditional offer of employment. Unfortunately for me, I did not disclose several warnings from previous employers and I was accused of downplaying my role in a malicious mischief arrest which happened when I was 15. In all honesty, I did not purposely withhold the warnings from the CHP, I just got so excited about the chance that I forgot about these incidents. They were nothing that serious, but the fact that they wanted info that was 5-7 years old kind of threw me off and I was unable to recall such things as "what were the insults used in a verbal confrontation with another employee in 1996." I applied with the CHP in 2000 and just received the letter last week from them saying my name was going to be removed from the list at this time.
I will graduate in June with a BA in political Science and I have decided to follow my dream of becoming a Marine. Although I am 24, I am extremely motivated and I want this really bad.
So my question is this, say I get out after 4 years of excellent service in the corps and I apply for a cop job, I will have a 4 year degree and 4 years experience with the Marines at the age of 28-29--will I have a chance at all of being picked up by a LEO agency despite being denied by the CHP?
Thanks guys...

time and maturity! That is the issue that will come up in your future efforts. If the USMC is your current goal(are you going in as a commissioned officer since you will have a degree?),apply your best efforts to that organization and you'll do fine.It will give you the opportunity to show agencies like CHP that you are an advanced , muture adult and have accomplished some things since your last effort (Who knows, the military might make a career for you!).In Calif. juvenile crimes, unless serious felonies that require incarceration, can be sealed by court order, and many misd. charges are expunged after5-10 yrs, especially if a similar offense is not commited-if you were accepted by the USMC, then your background is satisfactory enough for future hire in a law enforcement agency(From what I know , the Marines are strict on criminal issues )-as always be honest and disclose what is required, and good luck in 4 yrs...
