I took the physical agility test and the Oral Board for the Portland Police Dept. and I am happy to say that I passed both!!!
I took the agility test on the 1st, I did my 1.5 run in 11:48, and I surpassed the requirements on the sit ups and push ups. I had to return to Portland the next day for my oral board, which only ended up being a panel consisting of, The Deputy Chief, a Detective, a Sgt., and a Civil Service Commission Rep. They asked the usual questions, but no scenario questions; I was surprised that they didn't even ask one scenario question. They were pretty low key, no intimidation, basically really nice people.
After the oral, I was assigned my background info. book, which is 33 pages long, and due in two weeks; I was then taken to be fingerprinted. I was told that my background would be completed in only two weeks after I turn in the book. I didn't know that it was possible to run one that quick. After the background is complete, and if they don't find anything that they consider to be disqualifying, it will be on to the job suitability (psych.) tests. Needless to say, I am thrilled to have made it this far. ;D
I hope that all is going well for everyone else. Have a great weekend, I know I will ;D
Lisa ;D

Thanks everyone for the congrats, I hope that the rest of the process goes as smoothly as it has so far. From what I have been told, the hiring process should last until July, and if I am hired, the academy will begin in August, and will last 18 weeks. I really hope to get hired by this agency, they are an excellent agency, and I was very impressed by how well things are run there, very organized, and professional. Thanks again for the congrats, and good luck wishes. Lisa

Thank you ,Lisa, as you proved what I felt you could do all along-Succeed! Be insightful, yet focused when you do the writing exercise( I suspect they'll be looking for grammar as well as cohesive thought) knock out that backgrounds ,then get ready for more!(the academy)-you're 25% there, and we'll ALL be pulling for you (p.s. you had it in you all along- it was just your turn at bat!!!!)Keep it up! stay in contact with the Dept. representatives they advise you of,it everything should flow smoothly!!!!! ;D

Thanks for the info cpl_mike, I really appreciate all of the advice that you have given me. The autobiography should be no problem, as I am rarely at a loss for written words. ;D My biggest concern with the autobiography is where do they want me to start......."It was a cold and rainy night when I came into this world" or do they want more of a chronological account of my existence? I guess that I am not sure what they are looking for, and the reason for assigning the autobiography in the first place; I suspect that their reasoning is twofold, to find out a little more about me, and as cpl_mike said, grammar and cohesive thought. I called the personnel and training person on Friday to find out what they are looking for as well as a few other questions that I had about the background book, and she was unavailable, but I will call her tomorrow morning. Thanks again for all of your support. Lisa
