Former SADF,Huh? Tough and disciplined organization.I say this only to point to what you already know-you have to get that Citizenship. You seem to have the maturity to know what you want and would probably be successful as a candidate, but without being a citizen, it would be a waste of your time-most agencies(actually all) still have you swear an oath of allegiance as a police officer/civil servant to the U.S. gov't and your state/commonwealth(for some of you East Coast types).Check with your area recruiter and with INS...

gogga2000-The only thing I can add to Cpl. Mike's advice is this: there are a few agencies out there that may only require that you be "legally able" to work in the U.S. As for WHO or WHICH PD's do this, you'll have to surf and look for that information for specifics but there are some out there:o BUT,.......fact is,....at most departments, they usually require that you be a U.S. citizen. Even though you're 35 and MIGHT be able to get your citizenship in about 2-years doesn't necessarily cut you out of the picture completely. A lot of departments also have age requirements, and the age requirements vary depending pon where you go, AND, some don't have age requirements! 8) Hang in there! And best of luck. Charlie

Thank You At least I know there is hope for me. I appreciate your info and I guess I'll have to wait and relax till I have my citizenship. I am proud to be part of this country and can't wait to make it official through the citizenship. 9/11 has made me realize how much I appreciate the people of the USA. Thanks again, you gave me hope. God Bless Gogga 2000
