Summer Reserve

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to let everyone know that I just found out yesterday that I was hired for a summer reserve officer position in an affluent small town here. I was originally going to be sent through the training as a stand by in case someone quit, and someone dropped out before training, so now I'm in.  ;D  I will start the 100 hour pre-service police academy on this Sunday. I was told that they are going to be hiring four more full time officers at this dept after the summer season, and I will be applying for a full time position.  I am really happy to have the opportunity to gain some experience. I have a very busy two weeks ahead of me, as the 100 hour academy will be held from 02 June-14 June, and on 01 June before I start the academy, I will be attending a Red Cross Professional rescuers first aid and CPR class all day.

It would sure be nice to turn this summer gig into a full time job, I hope you can do it.

You sure have a busy couple of weeks ahead of you, but I'm sure you will come through.

Hello,

I just thought that I would let you know how I am doing. I just graduated from the pre-service academy on friday and I was sworn in to my Dept. that afternoon. I still have a couple more days of training with my Dept, such as asp training and OC certification this week, ( I get to experience the joys of OC first hand. lol ;D ) and I already qualified on my weapon with my Dept on saturday. I will start work this friday night, I can't wait to get started.

Hello Jim,

Great to hear from you, It would be great to have a chance to meet you; let me know, when you know for sure when you will be here. I hope the weather up here in Maine improves before you get here, it hasn't been very seasonal lately. I had to qualify on my weapon in the rain, and it was cold as well, not very comfortable, but I got through it and did well in spite of it. I just can't believe that it is still this cold in June!!! ;D ;D ;D lol ....... Ok, enough ranting from this peanut gallery.

It was great to meet you as well at the 100 hour; It sure was an interesting two weeks. I will be doing asp training and more self defense tommorow, and on wednesday, I will be doing the OC certification....fun fun fun! ;D After OC cert. we get to go over Dept policy and procedures... yes I said after OC cert. I just hope we can see. lol I start my patrol on this friday night, I will be working wed-sun 4pm-12am If you're ever in the neighborhood, stop by and say hello. Of course I want to hear all about your first patrol, I think that you will do fine, Kennebunk is lucky to have you.
