I am now about to turn 21 this summer, when I was 18 I was terminated from a job for insubordination. I was working in the remodeling crew at a well known retail store, and I refused to do bathroom and toilet cleaning which I felt was not a task laid out in my job description. Therefore I was terminated, and I am wondering should I just put insubordination as my reason for being fired, and just leave it at that. Or should I go into specific detail and explain the situation. Either way I know I will have to explain completely when I am interviewed.

P.S. Other then this one incident, my job employment history is clean. Do you think this will hurt me a great deal in my application?

Be honest.....tell them you were fired if they ask for an explanation give it to them. I don't think this one incident will hold you back.....but lying about it will. Departments know that we aren't perfect and that we don't aways get along or see eye to eye with everyone. Be honest ......good luck k.u.p.
