Let me start by saying hello and that you have a wealth of information in all the members here. My problem is that I am a horrible liar and even when i tell the truth, if i feel like i'm on the spot i get branded as one anyway. this has happened since i was in elementary school getting interrogated by the teacher for someone throwing spitballs. my problem area will be drug use. as a freshman in college (3/3/99-4/5/99, mardi gras to spring break) i got into a bad group and started smoking marijuana eventually leading to ecstacy, and trying both GHB and LSD once. i did all this between those dates, the only exception would be smoking MJ one time at the next spring break (4/00) and once in 1996. i never sold any of the stuff, but i have purchased some and my friends smoked out of it. is that a problem? the only other drug i've used is a steroid, deca durabolin for about 5 or 6 weeks in 12/98. i've changed since then and feel that drugs are behind 80% of most crimes. that's why i want to work narcotics. my question is, how can i avoid not getting nervous or embarrased about my past. i'll be honest, but when they ask have you done drugs any other time that you've mentioned, i'm going to skip a heartbeat and rethink my entire youth. is there anything i can do to prevent getting a false response?

Unfortunately there are many organizations that will DQ you for steroids, cocaine, x and many of the "Hard Drugs". Most frown on the usage of marijuana more then five times. This doesn't make you a bad person and your desires are honorable but I think you find out that most departments regulations dictate your immediate Dq. I don't know every departments policies but if you made it to the polygraph then they are looking at you very seriously to proceed to hire. My suggestion is be honestand to explore the many websites on the polygraph, maybe you find some information that will help you suceed. Knowing about a subject makes it alot less scary. I wish you the best of luck. K.U.P.
