Fessorx--If I understand your question correctly, it will depend upon a few factors. First, does this person have a felony CONVICTION for some sort of crime? ("Conviction" is the key element). And second, it will depend upon the overall circumstances surrounding the situation in question, even if the individual was NOT convicted, that is being looked at concerning an individual applicant by a law enforcement agency.
But generally speaking, if someone has a felony conviction, my guess is the vast majority of LE agencies will not hire them. I am not aware of any department who would hire a convicted felon.

This is kind of off the beaten path..... But i do know that the department of corrections here in Maryland will hire you with a felony in your pass as long as it is at least 10 years old. I don't know what types of felonies with get the hire approval. Makes you feel safe knowing that a C.O. once shared a cell with a inmate thats he is now paid to keep in there.

Not sure if this will help because it relates to Canada.
Up here you can not have a criminal conviction on record unless you apply for, and receive a pardon.
I don't know the procedure for a pardon but can only assume that you must demonstrate to the authority that you have lead an exemplary life for some period of time after the conviction.
