I was wondering if anyone here works for or is in the process to be hired by the MD Transportation Police. Im currently in the background phase and also was wondering how long before they contact me to take the polygraph. I've applied once before so all they have to do is check the last 9 years of my life. I made the list to be hired after my spot was cut from the academy because of budget cutbacks. Any insight would be great...

Yes sir,I am also at the same point in processing. You don't have that long to wait to be called, the academy classes start September the 18th.I am very excited, let us know when you are called and what to expect. If I'm called I will do the same.If you are selected you will get a conditional letter of employment, this will also indicate when you should appear for the polygraph.or,If it is too close to the academy starting date, you will get a phone call telling you when to appear.Hopefully I see you in class.

;D Forture smiles. This is my second time processing. The first I was selected but they cut back my position at the academy. Budget cuts because of all the changes back in 1993. They only have to investigate 9 years of my life....if they do that....Funny thing is most of the investigators remember me coming thru back then. I just haven't heard anything in like 4 weeks so I was getting worried. If they call they call if they don't well....anyway I have a positive outlook.

Hey Drakor, look at the big picture. This is a different time now,you are talking about post "9/11".They are in need of good officers, now is your best chance.I like the fact that you stuck with the same agency. They are the best LE in the state of Md.On Monday call your investigator and ask that person about your status? We have less than a month before classes start. The class right now graduates in December, this will be the frist time there are two classes simultanously.Let me know how you made out and I will do the same.Remember,be confident and agressive, show how much you want the job.Keep in touch.

;D have you already done your polygraph or are you still in the BI portion of the process. If thats the case I probaly did the physical with you in July. I'm always cofident and I have a few things in the works just to leave my options open. I don't know about calling the BI, because the Capt. gave that speach about not bothering his detectives. So I have notified them in a more simpler approach I emailed them and asked if they got my extra info they requested(addresses of colleges). Anyway keep me posted on your progress. Thanks for the reponse,.

Hey Drakor,it is good to know that you're also shareing the same experience.Yes I was there in July and I heard that speech the captain gave,he is suppose to say that,if you show concern I think that's fair. You do have to act like you want the job. No,I did not take the polygraph as yet, that should be my next step along with the phsycological which is done on the same day.If I don't hear from them by Thursday I will call my investigator on Friday.Say Drakor, what do you know about the Md TAPD.how are they rated compared to other departments and the State Police? If I hear from them I will let you know.

;D For many years I heard that they were next to the State Police in many ways and in fact they were better. I know for a fact that the State is sort of on loan until the Mta police can get up enough man power to cover all the toll ways of Maryland. I have heard a rumor and it is just that a rumor that there was going to be some sort of conversion in the future. I also heard that we be able to take home our cars. Again this is just rumor.... You'll have to send me a message via this web site maybe I talked to you on the day we took the physical. This may narrow it down for you, my time for the run was 13:49. At this short date I would think all futher transactions would be by phone from the detective division. Sept. 18th is just a short month away for them to find 50 people for the academy. Has a BI called you yet? Keep me posted

Yes Drakor,I think you're right about us taking the physical agillity together. My time on the run was about 11 minutes.I already met with my investigator and my package is completed. He said that the next step is either a phone call or a letter of intent to hire. This will also let us know when we have to appear for the polygraph and the physical. The last step is the review board. At this stage everything will be done via the telephone. That's why I said that you should call your investigator because you said that you last heard from them about a month ago, please call them today.I thin that you are right about them being one of the best if not the best LE in Md.There were officers from just about every other department at the initial interview.I am going to call either Thursday or Friday. We stand a very good chance of getting on because the're in the process of taking back I-95 from the troopers and the're 60 job openings at the airport plus retirement and promotions. Please call and keep me in touch.

Just to let you know I met with the investigator at the same time they fingerprinted me. Everyone seem so nice. I took your advice and called I spoke to a very nice detective. She told me to be patient, I would probaly be getting a phone call in the near future. Hopefully I make the September class I'm really looking forward to the carreer change and I think they are the best, they were my very first choice nine years ago. I also think they are very sharply dressed. Did you know they won the best dressed in the country about 6 years ago? Thanks for the info K.U.P.

Hey, Drakor! MTA Police, huh? checked the web site awhile ago and they seem like atight knit, organized agency. Specialized law enforcement offers many of the same opportunities as municipal/county agencies , and pay can be the same and sometimes better! When you get in, it'll be what you make of it,so good luck...If they are strict about patrol jurisdictions, don't get frustrated-it can be a liability issue(many muni- cops agencies are also the same way).Once again, hope to hear something good from you and sweatdraw...!
