At the backround stage, they will be calling my refrences on Monday, after this what else do they usually do. How long does the backround usually take? If I am at the backround , does this mean i passed the interview cause they never told me, i did my interview on a monday and called me to start the backround wednesday. Im thinking I have passed the interview. I was as honest as I could be on my backround questionaire, im just hoping a ticket for underage drinking, i admitted to pot smoking 4 times in high school and 3 traffic violations will not hurt me. Considering i will be turning 21 in September.

Hey Bob - Why don't you ask your particular agency if you have passed the interview or not? And then ask them what else they do during the background and how long it may take. They will tell you these things and are the best source for the info your querying about.

Without knowing your departmetn your applying too I can tell you what the standards are for a background. I will say this that it doesn't seem like they need to investigate too much being that your 21. They took yourfinger prints so they are going to run a criminal check call or mail out a few references and maybe come out and talk to your neighbors, if they do that. In some cases it only takes a matter of days to complete in some much longer(months). If there is a high demand for qualified applicants they may even hire you and continue the background while your at the academy provided everything looks great before you go in to the academy. As long as everything progresses and you hear from them regularly its when you don't hear anything for a long time(months). Only exception is the RCMP they seem to take years to hire ;D(just a little joke for the canadians in the bunch) Normally they don't continue your background unless you get pass the interview.
