Hey Bob - Not knowing what dept you're applying to, I can only speak from my own experience with the one force I'm applying to, the RCMP. My advice is don't sweat it for awhile yet. DO NOT get yourself labelled as a constant caller to the recruiting office! Could slow you down in the long run.
While I agree, investigators and clerks should not be making promises that can't (won't) keep, shit happens and often things come up to slow them down. Remember, you're only one of hundreds of applicants likely. While an actual BI only takes a week to do, I and many others waited 6-8 months for it to get going. That's not the norm in most depts, but it is for the RCMP due to long applicant lists and low staffing levels. Good luck and keep us posted.

You got to remain calm. You'll find that this business is a waiting game. You also find out that part of the pysch eval includes the ability to be patient. If your BI told you he was contacting your references then he will but again your not the only applicant. If you made it this far be patient being hired is just around the corner. Good Luck K.U.P
