Question on selection process

Hello all,

This is my first post to this website, although I've been visiting it daily for the past 4 months. Just want to say what a great website this is.

My question is about the selection process. I've applied to the police force here in Waco, Texas and have passed the CSE and physical agility tests. I didn't do as well on the CSE as I would have liked and I am ranked 56 out of 90 applicants. The process they use is to start doing background by rank, starting with 1 and going down the list. So if they hire the 5 (yes, only 5) postitions before they get to me, then that's it.

Since the academy starts in January, should I call in a month or so and check to see how far they've gotten?

The suspense is killing me

You have to remember, when trying to get into the academy, its a long process. Could take months to years for everything. I wouldn't call just yet, its only september. You still have four whole months, which in the world for law enforcement, that's alot of time. Just for reference, the academy out here starts next month, but they are barely doing the background checks. Still have all the other stuff to endure. well, good luck to you!

I can tell you that 56 of of 90 is great. The likely hood that they will find 5 people out of your 90 is going to be rare. You can't know how many of those people failed to tell the truth on there applications. How many had a bad reference check. Some could have been fired from every job they every had. Some will fail the drug test.
What I'm trying to say is that it's a long process and they eliminate 10 percent if not more during each step of the process. I'm pretty sure they will only find maybe 5 to 10- people out of those 90. Thats why it like winning the lottery when you get hired. I would think you'd hear something sooner then next month Good Luck K.U.P.-
