I have always wanted to get into law enforcement, but what does the RCMP pay? Edmonton starts at $36.000. I could not find Calgary's or the RCMP's pay scale. I am in education right now and never really thought wage would make a real difference for an occupation that I would love. But lets face it, cops are severely underpaid. As a first year teacher I will start at almost $50.000. At least ten grand more than a cop, I won't even get into the summers off. So my question is, does anyone know if the wages are going to increase any time soon? Calgary has been in talks for several years, any news to report?

This is for the RCMP:
$37,267: 0 to six months (or until completion of the field training program) $48,419: upon completion of field training program up until two years $56,650: next 12 months $60,384: after three years
This is for Calgary:
Senior Constable Level II $62.774.40 Senior Constable Level I $61,609.60 Constable 1st Class $58,136.00 Constable 2nd Class $54,059.20 Constable 3rd Class $49,400.00 Constable 4th Class $42,452.80 Constable 5th Class $37,772.80
Not sure about any wage increases coming soon. I know Toronto Metro Police had a wage increase not long ago, so who knows maybe all other forces will follow the trend.

Every department is basically the same. Your looking at just over 60 k when u become a first class constable. I think its great money and am very satasfied at the wages for a police officer in Canada, i would take less money to work with a department that I would really like to work in.
