I am considering becoming a police officer. I finished school in 1997, but lacked 1 PE credit to get a Criminal Justice degree. I went ahead and said that I graduated when I started out working full time (I have been a paralegal for 5 years). Now I want to be a police officer, but I am scared that I will be disqualified because of this. I did graduate in 2000. Any advise?

Your not the first person to ever lie about your education level to better your career situtation. You since completed the requirements for your degree and if your current employer wasn't smart enough to check up on your references then I wouldn't worry about it now. All I can say is be honest. I don't believe that I ever been asked have I ever lied to get a job but if it comes up then tell the truth and you'll be fine. I wouldn't volunteer any information if then don't ask. Good Luck
