Does anyone know a good site that has some situational questions one might look up to practice for the oral exam? Would love be able to think through a few. Thanks. Nervious Porl

Thanks Drakor. I have looked through the past messages. Yes, there is some really good stuff, however, I was looking for some structured questions and analysis of possible answers.
I am nervous, but confident too. I know that I will do well tonight, just wanted some last minute questions to get my mind working in the LE realm!

Here are some that I can think of at the moment. Why do you want to be a policeman? You follow a armed and dangerous person into a warehouse. Your walking down a long hallway and come to three doors. One on the left one on the right and one dead center. You supervisor tells you to shoot thru the center door when you within 1o feet of it. What do you do? Are you aggressive? Whats the worst day of your life? Whats the best day of your life? What are you going to like the most about your new career? What are you going to dislike the most about your new career? Tell us a little about yourself? What makes you better then all the other applicants and why should we hire you?( this is a cute answer....cause I always buy the the first round at choir practice) You notice your supervisor doing something he's not suppose to do, what do you do?( this could be anything I've heard it a number of ways) Whys the parole system a good thing? Why do we study history? Whats the name of the last space shuttle that just when up in space? I would read todays news paper and work on being cool, calm and collective. Maintain your professionalizm and watch your hand jestures if you talk with your hands. When you walk into the room stand in front of your chair and wait to be told to be seated, then without looking sit down. Don't figit answer your questions direct and to the point. K.I.S.S. Keep it short and sweet. Unless they ask for a follow up to that question. Hmmm I may have done this a bunch of times.....hmmmm oral reviews for rank and such. Good Luck

Whoaaaaaaa hold on... my head is now spinning Drakor! But really thanks for the bunch of questions.... It has helped a ton. So would you shoot through the middle door? Or disobey orders? Keeping things short and simple will be no problem... usually I am too short on my answers. I'll tell you all how it went and some of my q's I get. Should be interesting. Porl

Theres a thin line between justifyable shooting and homicide. I would call back across the radio and tell my supervisor I don't have visual contact with the subject and cannot make the shot. When I make the choice to shoot I want to be abolutely sure of my target/person and the eminent danger they pose and whether or not I should use deadly force. Maybe my supervisor has a birds eye view to whats going on and can see the suspect holding his gun to my head thru the door. Hopefully he/she would tell me to take cover and take action. I choose to shoot thru the door and get lucky and neutralize the person. I got lucky but the review board is going to question how I knew what the person would do if I couldn't see him. This is lenghty but I'm playing devil advocate.

Thanks for the input Drakor! I did have some situational questions:
Your partner steals a knife while you are conducting a search. What do you do? Then I answered that I would confront him...etc... So then the examiner says: So your partner then puts it back. What do you do then. Tough question.
Next involves a man that doesn't speak english. He has been parked in the street for several hours and hasn't exited the vehicle. You try to communicate with him however, the more you try the more aggitated and angry he gets. As he is speaking he keeps pointing to a house. WHat do you do?
Then he comes after you with the intent to attack you....what do you do?
I thought I bombed the test. However, within 3 hours of my interview, I had an email stating I passed!!!!! I will know more when they call monday to give me the details!! but I passed! Can you tell that i am happy! Thanks everyone here for their posts and information. It really did help alot! Great site too, thanks Jay.
