I have been taking the drug zoloft for over 2 years. Do not have any problems except for the fact that I have recently lost 90+ pounds, and my doctor that the drug might help me to have more energy, feel better about myself, and thus start exercising. I am now ready to start my LE career as a police officer- but am scared that this might stop me. I already have a b.s. in CJ. Anybody have any help?

Upon applying for the position of police officer, you will be sent through a thorough physical and pyschological examination. Are you or have you been diagnosed as having a psych disorder? It is nothing to be ashamed of as many people suffer from some time to another with some type of disability. If it was not a disability (ADA covers the issue here in the U.S.-I'm sure Canada has like laws ) then don't worry about it.When you come to the pysch interview and they ask ( and they will) , explain it honestly. If you are no longer in need of zoloft( and please, take the medicine if it is properly prescribed) this will come out. The only question will be how long ago and how serious the depression . I current work as a police officer and was once prescribed ativan for anxiety .I tell you this because we all need help sometimes .Their concern will be answered when they recieve your medical/pysch records from the treating clinician. GOOD LUCK and get that application in.You sound ready...!!!!!
