Two and half years ago I was in a minor motorcycle accident. The officer at the scene gave me a careless driving ticket and a ticket for no libiality insurance. The address on the ticket was wrong so I never recieved any notices about the court date, therefore I never attended. A bench warrant was issued for the failure to appear and my licence was suspended. Three months later I was pulled over again because the officer ran my license plate number while at a stop light and all that info. came up. Went to court and license was suspended for 18 months for the prior infractions. The rest of my background is clean and have not had any problems since driving wise. I scored well on my test for the local PD, but am I wasting time trying to become LEO? This job is very important to me...will my mistakes cost me?

acpd--Commonly, a lot of PD's have some sort of policy in place that addresses applicants who have committed misdemeanor offenses. USUALLY, misdemeanor offenses (depending upon the type committed and how long ago the offense occurred) do not permanently disqualify someone from applying and possibly getting hired with a department. BUT, you will most likely have to provide a thorough explanation concerning the overall circumstances about the offenses in question to the Background Investigator.
Without a doubt, these issues will be of some concern but I don't think it is something that will permanently bar you from getting on board somewhere. You don't know till you try. If needed, you can always contact the recruiter and ask him/her about this for a better feel of how it may effect your application.
