George,George,George! I wish I could help you with the issue of LAPDs' polygraph testing- BuT I can't.Now unless you've taken the examination personally, how can you or anyone else say that the city of L.A. doesn't have the right to use it? Yes , I do agree that the polygraph is fallible, and , yes, in the wrong hands it can be used improperly(everyone here agrees on that). But what do you say to the hundreds of applicants that pass it, along with all the other phases of the testing process? Many agencies have an "at will" policy for applicants and probationary officers-do we say that this is unfair? If you know of someone that was asked inappropriate questions, LAPD has an internal affairs unit, and YOU DO have a right to file a complaint as a citizen and have it investigated.Remember,My point was that I hope that anyone applying for the job, no matter what agency, TELLS the truth! Thanks for that info. anyway( I did look over the site and I am researching other issues regarding the polygraph). Also remember- I don't work for LAPD, although my agency has similar hiring standards as directed by the Citys personnel and police/fire selection.LAPD is not the only agency out there, and as I've always pointed out on this board,"SHOP" around- From AzusaCA PD to LongBeach CA PD, So. Calif. has lots of great agencies to work for, many are not under the political pressure as LAPD, and yes some of them also use the polygraph......P.S. Hope to see your posts again anytime a "Cop2Be" asks about the polygraph -nuff said?
