I start the Dallas Police Academy tomarrow! I can't belive it. To say I am excited is an understatement. This is only my second post here but I have been following the group and reading all of the helpful posts for a long time. I just wanted to keep it quite ( my application process ) because I didnt want to jinx it. Now that I have made it I can tell everyone. Thank you all so very much for this great site. I will keep you all posted on how I am doing in my new career!! Thanks again, Tim T Police trainee.

Hey Tim;
Congratulations, and my best wishes to you. I'm sure you are excited, and nervous.
You will be with a bunch of other nervous cadets, and a bunch of "Hard ass" instructors, that you will feel are out to "get" you.
Nothing could be further from the truth, every instructor at the academy will be pulling for every cadet to pass the course, most likely a few won't, but it will be their problem and not the fault of the instructors.
Just remember the 4 famous words "Yes Sir" & "No Sir", or Mam depending on the situation.
You do your part to the best of your ability, and in a couple months, you will be "Officer Tim"
Keep us posted on your progress.
Good Luck. JimCMR

WAY2GO ;D-As Jim said , keep focussed and don't psyche yourself out!!! We've been there before,sitting in the academy class room with 60-100 new recruits( or cadets as some agencies call you!!) nervous as all heck.This is a life changing event, but keep this in mind and you'll be flexible to this new and strange world.They're teaching to be a "cop", and that very same influence is meant to keep you alive and functioning for as long as are willing and capable of wearing the badge.If you are told during the academy of the do's and don'ts as an academy recruit, and later on as a probationary officer, FOLLOW THOSE RULES- they were there before you and if you fail to heed the warnings those rules will see you out the door.Good luck again,pace yourself and do your best-you are on your way!!! 8)
