Thanks to everyone!!! The Raleigh, NC PD made me a conditional offer this past week. I just have to do the psyche and physical. The academy starts in September, but I can work at the Police station until the academy starts. Thanks again for all the helpful post.
Oral boards went pretty smooth. They only asked one situational question. That being if you were with you training officer and went to an open door call at a store and the officer training you steals a candy bar. What do you do?
I said that, I offer to buy him a candy bar if he is that hungry. Then they asked what I would do if he said, “No, we are not going to pay for it.” Would I report it? YES

YES!!! Another future success here! ;D Do just that, work at the dept. until you get your class date.DON'T GET COCKY!! start a realistic exercise program(light to moderate running, sit ups and push ups,cut out the junk food!) and stay very calm and humble.the best rule if your are around a station is:be seen , but not heard.listen ands ask questions(keep pen and pad for notes). Also , don't freak out on the psych-you'll probably write the 560+ question MMPI, then go for an interview.I've had some reservations about the MMPI(somewhat sexist, and can be difficult for people who are raised on the far right of christianity, but most pass it). Most interviews last 15-30 mins. and usually are a reflection of your answers on the MMPI as well as info. from your application.Be at ease and answer like you would a friendly conversation. The session should not be confrontational.Be sure to keep us all updated on this board, and drop a word of encouragement to others who are " in the process".
