Ace13, where is this I am from Ontario, and here you have to be hired to go to police college and then it costs you 5,000. So please let me know, i think you may be mistaken on this one.

I am talking about Holland College. Click the website for more information on it. www.hollandc.pe.ca/Admissions/Fees/20002001/PoliceScienceFees.htmI know that in Ontario, you can be hired by a force and sent to the academy for a tuition fee of $5000. With the RCMP, if hired, you only pay the cost of living expenses, they cover the cost of your training. Sorry about the confusion, but I was talking about doing a course and then looking for a department to hire you as an "already trained" officer. Ace13

???You guys in Canada have it tough! But thats probably why officers serve for such a long time up there! The max you'd pay here in California is about $5,000.00 for a pre service type academy(most are located on or affiliated with a JR. or Community College( and most can apply for a Student loan or grant for the tuition).Also-in some cases it is easier to get hired after paying your way through an academy -but you still must apply and "sell" yourself in the interview and background process! You guys ever think about coming South of the border?

Cpl. mike i definetely have thoght of coming across the border and would like to. However ts not that easy, I am not a citizen of the United States which is madnatory in all departments. I have lived in Canada, but would love to spend some time in the states and would not mind making a home their. Did you say you were in recruiting for LAPD, if you are what is your policy for Canadians, is their a way they can help Canaduans attain citizenship. If you have any info for me, please do send to Newstrat@hotmail.com. Lot of people up north looking for jobs in Law enforcement, not to many jobs up here though.

:(No-sorry, not in recruiting for LAPD!wish I were-,but all background investigators can do is recommend, then let personnel/police and fire selection do the rest!Try the site LAPD.ORG (but expect a "chain letter" type email response-not very helpful at all)It goes like this -you must gain citizenship prior to acceptance of the position of a police officer here(you swear an oath of allegiance to the gov't)-maybe this could be a selling point for citizenship,i.e. "your community needs cops, I need to be a citizen" (LOL).but I must say, I've visited Canada (ontario,Brit.Columbia,Calgary) and Its nice up there so I can see why you guys would not want to leave ;D
